Apr 15 - Drink Driving Without A Helmet And In Charge Of A Child – Local Man Charged

At 1505hrs yesterday, British National Ernest John SANTOS, DOB. 12/08/1968, of St. John’s Court, a self-employed mechanic was re-called from Police bail and charged as follows;

- One count of Driving a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit

- One count of Dangerous Driving

- One count of Being Intoxicated whilst In Charge of a Child

- One count of Not Wearing Protective Headgear

The above charges relate to his arrest at 1900hrs last Saturday 11th April 2015 after he had been seen by Police riding a motorcycle at speed whilst carrying a seven-year-old child as pillion. Neither Mr. SANTOS nor the child was wearing protective headgear at the time.

Mr. SANTOS is alleged to have ignored repeated Police requests to stop and eventually came to a halt in the vicinity of his residence. On being dealt with by Police, officers suspected Mr. SANTOS of driving with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit and arrested him on suspicion of said offence.

Mr. SANTOS had been initially bailed to appear at Police Headquarters on a date in June 2015 but was yesterday re-called from his bail and charged. He is now due to appear at the Magistrates’ Court at 1000hrs this coming Thursday 16th April 2015.
