May 15 - RGP Mobile Unit To Serve As Temporary Police Station In Casemates
As from tomorrow morning, the RGP will be deploying a mobile unit to Casemates Square where it will commence its function as a ‘temporary Police Station’ between the hours of 0900hrs and 1300hrs every Saturday morning and from 0900hrs to 1600hrs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
At present the RGP are operating from their substation on the ground floor of the City Hall building but are looking forward to their proposed move to new premises made available by the Government at Casemates Square by late June or early July. In the meantime, the mobile unit will be available to service the community from this new location at Casemates.
During the hours when the mobile unit is working from Casemates, the City Hall substation will close, re-opening whenever the mobile unit is not at Casemates.
The RGP says it is aware of the possible concern which the closure of Central Police Station has raised within the community but wishes to stress that it continues to be fully committed to maintaining an effective presence in the town area and adds that this move will only serve to enhance the quality of service it provides to the community.
