Jun 26 - RGP Reminds Jet Ski Users Of New Port Speed Limit
The RGP is reminding Jet Ski users of the revised speed limit now in force within the waters of the Port.
A total of eight persons have been reported for process in recent weeks for the offence of exceeding the new 5 Knot speed limit, introduced for the Port Area under Sections 12 and 12A of the Port Rules.
The RGP says it intends to fast-track offenders through the Court system over the summer period and will be requesting the Port Authority to take pertinent action against any person(s) convicted of this offence.
A statement from the RGP continued:
“Jet Skis are capable of reaching high speeds and it is imperative for the safety of both users and the public at large that these are navigated safely and responsibly at all times.
“The RGP will be monitoring the use of these vessels during the summer period and will be carrying out both Awareness and Enforcement operations to ensure public safety as far as possible in and around our beaches and Port Area.”
