Jul 06 - Drugs Seized After High-Speed Jet Ski Chase
Two bales of cannabis resin were seized following a dramatic Jet Ski chase round the Rock yesterday afternoon.
The high-speed pursuit started in the Eastern Beach area after a Police launch spotted two Jet Skis which appeared to be carrying drugs.
One Jet Ski managed to escape to Spain once it passed Europa Point while the other Jet Ski sped towards the harbour. The chase ended outside the Med Rowing Club where the suspect abandoned the Jet Ski and fled across the rocks towards Europort.
Locals enjoying the summer sun were shocked to see plain-clothes officers and other law enforcement agents running past beach umbrellas towards the scene. In the event, the suspect made good his escape and police have now confirmed that the search has been called off.
