Loreto Pupils Donate Books And Gifts For GBC Open Day
Pupils at Loreto Convent School have collected books and gifts for the Gibraltar Youth Service and Cancer Relief Centre as part of this year’s GBC Open Day.
Year 5 pupils donated wrapped books for children attending local youth clubs, while Year 4 pupils collected items including books, hot water bottles, puzzles and arts and crafts materials for patients and families at the Cancer Relief Centre.

Pupils at Loreto Convent School have been busy supporting two local organisations as part of this year’s GBC Open Day, with Years 4 and 5 taking part in initiatives aimed at bringing a little happiness and comfort to others in our community.
Our Year 5 pupils have been spreading some early Christmas cheer by donating books for children who attend Youth Service provision. Each child brought in a book, which they then carefully wrapped, ready to be given out as a Christmas gift to children using any of the four local youth clubs. We were delighted to welcome Jamie Napoli from the Gibraltar Youth Service to school to collect the books, which will be distributed over the Christmas period.
Meanwhile, our Year 4 pupils have been collecting gifts for the Cancer Relief Centre Gibraltar. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of their families, the children gathered a lovely selection of items, including cosy socks, hot water bottles, books, crossword puzzles, notebooks and a variety of arts and crafts materials and kits. These thoughtful donations will be used by patients and their families to bring a little comfort and enjoyment during their time at the centre.
Beth from the Cancer Relief Centre also visited the school to receive the gifts on behalf of the charity.
Taking part in the annual GBC Open Day is something our pupils always look forward to. It gives them the opportunity to think about others, reach out to the wider community and understand how even small acts of kindness can make a difference.
