Nov 23 - Ocean Village Prepares For A Spectacular Festive Season

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

The festive season at Ocean Village will arrive in style on the 30th November with Elsa from Frozen hosting a family event starting at 6pm. Elsa will perform the hit Disney movie song “Let it Go” and introduce the arrival of Father Christmas, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and crowd favourite: Olaf the Snowman.

The magical evening will kick off with a performance from Stylos Dance Academy and St. Bernard’s Middle School Choir, with the countdown to Christmas officially starting with the switching on of the lights at 7pm.

Santa’s Grotto will run from 7.20pm until 8.30pm on the 30th November, and from 6pm on the 1st and 2nd of December.

There will also be a bouncy castle on hand from Elite Bouncing Fun which will run concurrently with the Christmas Artisan Market from 5pm until 8.30pm on all three days.

Entry to Santa’s Grotto is £3 in aid of Kids Come First, a local charity set up to raise funds for children in need in Gibraltar. Kids Come First works closely with the Care Agency in Gibraltar in taking referrals of children deemed to be in need. The charity’s primary focus for the last years has been to provide Christmas presents and hosting a Children's Christmas Party.

The Christmas project involves members of the public purchasing a gift for a child in need or alternatively to provide the cash equivalent to enable the charity to do so. The fundraising also enables the charity to hold a Santa Christmas party for the children. Funds raised as part of the Christmas project are used exclusively to buy the children toys, clothes and other essentials such as bedding and the like with guidance being sought from the Care Agency as to what is required in each case so that no child goes without a present and any other basic necessities.

Inside the Grotto, children and parents alike can enjoy face painting, some delicious mulled rum from The Cuban, hot chocolate, mulled wine, mince pies and cookies, and writing letters to Father Christmas before visiting with Santa and Elsa. All the children will receive a present and kids under one year old will receive a balloon.

Christmas menus and other festive delights will be available in Ocean Village throughout December.
