Mar 18 - Gibraltar International Song Festival – Tickets Now On Sale
Tickets for this year’s edition of the Gibraltar International Song Festival are now on sale. The competition, which will feature 14 finalists selected from among 700 entries from 30 countries, will take place at the Tercentenary Sports Hall on Saturday 23rd April at 9pm. The finals will be streamed live on the internet to an audience of millions.
At a press conference held yesterday afternoon, the organisers said that this year’s show would be “bigger and better” than previous events. They said that the selection process had been challenging and taken around two months adding that many of the entries had been “very varied and of high quality.”
The top prize this year is £4,000 donated by Restsso. Other prizes include £2,000 for second place (donated by GibOil), £1,000 for third place (sponsored by Gibunco) and a prize of £500 for ‘Best Performance’ (donated by Umee).
Bootleg Beatles
The night’s entertainment will also include a performance by “The Bootleg Beatles”, a band which promises a note-perfect recreation of the Beatles’ classic hits. Reviewers across the globe have noted the tribute band’s close resemblance to the Fab Four and the festival organisers say the band will make the local audience dance away the night.
