Oct 14 – Model Flying Returns To Gibraltar’s Skies

The Gibraltar Model Flying Association can once again be seen (and heard) flying from the airfield at RAF Gibraltar.

Radio Control Model Flying has not been permitted in Gibraltar for well over 14 years for various reasons, including increased security concerns following the events of 9/11.

However, in recent times RAF Gibraltar and the Association have been working closely to address these and permission was finally given for the Association to commence flying from 1 October 2016.

Wing Commander Liz Hutchison, RAF Gibraltar’s Station Commander said: “My team has been working with the Association since my arrival.”

She added: “Security concerns have now been addressed and we are delighted to welcome them back!
