Nov 10 - Christmas Festival Of Lights – Programme Of Events

This year’s Christmas Festival of Lights, organised by the Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and the Gibraltar Electricity Authority will be held next Friday 18th November at John Mackintosh Square.

The entertainment will be presented by Christian Santos and commences at 6pm with live music, song and dance.

The switching-on of the Christmas Lights will be as from 7pm and will be conducted by Naim Hasisen from St Martin’s School in the presence of the Minister for Culture, Steven Linares and the Minister with responsibility for the Electricity Authority, Dr John Cortes.

A special appearance by Father Christmas and his elves will be a great recipe to welcome the season of good will.

The programme of events at John Mackintosh Square include:

5.30pm to 7.30pm: Art and Crafts Market
, Mulled wine, port and mince pies

6pm
: Performances by the Sea Scouts Pipe & Drum Band, St Anne’s Middle School Choir and Urban Dance

7pm Video Presentation and Switch-on Christmas Lights ceremony

7.13pm: Father Christmas special appearance

7.15pm: Gibraltar Youth Choir

Following the switching-on ceremony, the illuminations will thereafter come on, automatically, every day until the 6th January 2017.

As customary, they will remain on throughout the nights of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and the 5th January 2017. The organisers invite everyone in Gibraltar to attend.
