Feb 18 - Drama Festival 2014 Line Up Announced

newsWith the 2014 Gibraltar Drama Festival set to take place between Tuesday 18th and Saturday 22nd March 2014, a list of 11 plays has been announced by the Ministry for Culture.

The first set of performances include; ‘All Gone’, a non-competitive entry by juniors of the Santos Productions Academy. The short comedy is written by Julia Donaldson. Santos Productions will also present ‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’ and ‘Friendly Differences’ a comedy drama by Kerry Muir. The Ince’s Hall Theatre will also see the production of ‘No Minister’, an original comedy by Leroi Capeldi, presented by Rock Theatre.

On Wednesday 19th March the Trafalgar Theatre will present ‘Pool (No Water)’ a drama by Mark Ravenhill, and ‘My Women’, an original drama by Christian Santos. Thursday’s performances include ‘How to be A Saint’, a comedy by Nick Fromings presented by Fresh Wineskins Theatre Company from the UK. Santos Productions will then present ‘Teen Tales’ and original drama by the cast of youth players and Christian Santos, Gabrielle Garcia and Evan Wahnon.

On Friday evening at the Ince’s Hall Theatre, Rock Theatre will present ‘Julius and Cleopatra’, a coarse comedy by Michael Green. A physical theatre play by Bob Cooke dubbed ‘The Fag House’ will be presented by Medway Little Theatre Youth Company, from the UK. International Theatre Studio, based on the Costa Del Sol will present ‘Strictly Sex Factor on Ice’, a comedy by David Tristam.

Saturday 22nd March will see the Festival’s Gala Night presentation of three plays selected by the Adjudicator to provide a balanced evening’s entertainment. These will be followed by the presentation of awards by the Minister for Culture, Steven Linares.

Festival tickets will go on sale as from Monday 3rd March between 9:30am and 5pm. During performance days, tickets will be on sale at the venue between 6.30pm and 8pm. Tickets for single performances will be priced at £5, £10 for the Gala Night and £20 for a Season Ticket.
