The recent discovery of Neanderthal engravings at Gorham’s Cave, which was reported across the globe earlier this week, has inspired a piece by the satirical news website The Daily Mash.
Joking that the marks were a sign of the Neanderthals’ superior noughts-and-crosses skills, the spoof report goes on to quote an “expert” on the matter who says that the Neanderthals differed from the Cro-Magnons, “who played a primitive and unwinnable version of Rock Paper Scissors where the paper and the scissors were replaced by rocks.”
