The Beatles were Britain’s greatest artistic contribution to the 20th century, and endure still – so who were these young men and how did it all happen? Acknowledged world authority Mark Lewisohn talks to broadcaster David Freeman about his 25-year solo mission: to tell a supposedly-familiar history freshly and definitively in three shelf-breaking volumes – ‘the most important biography project in Britain today,’ according to the Boswell Biography Festival.
