Nov 10 – Gibraltar National Dance Team All Set For 2014 European Show Dance Championships
The Gibraltar National Dance Team is all set to participate at the 2014 European Show Dance Championships under the auspices of the Gibraltar National Dance Organisation (GNDO). The event that will be staged at the Erdgas Arena, in Riesa, Germany, will see over 1,100 dancers from 20 European countries taking part. Dancers will be travelling from many European countries to join in this spectacular event organised by the International Dance Organisation (IDO).
The GNDO will be sending a small team on this occasion composed of two dancers, namely Caitlin Rodriguez and Louise Gonzalez. Caitlin will participate in the Children Solo Female section whilst Louise will compete in the Adult Solo Female category. The National Team’s choreographers are Gerald Rodriguez and Jolene Gomez.
GNDO Vice President Wendy Garro said:
‘We are proud to be able to send dancers to the European Show Dance Championships. Our last Europeans as Team Gibraltar was when the event was organised in 2011 in Gibraltar and for the GNDO, it’s important to be able to expose dancers to other dance events that are not World competitions.’
GNDO President Seamus Byrne has also being selected as an International Judge for the event. The IDO had appointed Seamus to officially judge 13 out of the 17 categories at the competition, throughout the six days of competition.
The Gibraltar National Dance Team is being led by GNDO Official Belize Cortes and Christian Santos will also travel to Riesa to market the European Show Dance Championships 2015 that will be held in Gibraltar in October 2015.
The National Team leave Gibraltar on Sunday 23rd November and will return on Sunday 30th November 2014.
