Nov 10 - “Reencuentro Sefarad-Gibraltar” At The Instituto Cervantes This Evening
A presentation will be hosted by the Instituto Cervantes this evening. Sebastián de la Obra, director of the Casa de Sefarad in Cordoba, will deliver a talk titled “Sefarad: La memoria es más fuerte que las piedras.”
The talk will start at 7:00 pm and will explore themes relating to memory and forgetting, Sephardic traditions and history.
The Instituto Cervantes’ “Reencuentro Sefarad-Gibraltar” lecture cycle started in October 2012 and is being hosted at the same time as a similar series of talks at the Madrid-based Centro Sefarad-Israel.
Francisco Oda, the director of the Gibraltar branch, said: “The Instituto Cervantes in Gibraltar aspires to be a meeting point between cultures…we want to highlight the Sephardic legacy in Gibraltar in order to promote a better understanding of Jewish culture and deepen its study as a central and vibrant part of Spanish culture today."
