Nov 13 - Fun-Filled Festival Of Lights Programme For Next Friday Evening

Gibraltar Cultural Services and the Gibraltar Electricity Authority (GEA), on behalf of the Ministry of Culture have announced the programme of events for this year’s Festival of Lights taking place next Friday 21st November at John Mackintosh Square.

The entertainment will be presented by Christian Santos and commences at 6pm with live music, song and dance. The switching-on of the Christmas Lights at 7pm will be conducted by the Ministers Steven Linares and Samantha Sacramento, His Worship the Mayor Adolfo Canepa and Stephen Balban from St Martin’s School. Father Christmas and his elves will also be making a special appearance.

Programme of events at John Mackintosh Square include:

5.30pm to 7.30pm: Art and Crafts Market, mulled wine, port and mince pies

6pm: Santos Choir

6.10pm: Dance performances by Show Dance Company and Urban Dance

6.40pm: St Joseph’s School Choir

7pm: Switch-on Christmas Lights ceremony

7.02pm: Father Christmas special appearance

7.05pm: Sea Scouts Pipe & Drum Band

Following the switching-on ceremony, the illuminations will thereafter come on, automatically, every day until the 6th January 2015, from 5.00pm until 1.00am, and as from 9.30am on Saturdays leading to Christmas Day. As customary, they will remain on throughout the nights of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and the 5th January 2015. The organisers invite as many families as possible to attend.
