Mar 17 – Gibraltar International Dance Festival Results
21-year-old Carlos Romero, from Madrid, Spain and a dancer from Innovations Dance Company, took this year’s award for the most promising dancer at the 13th Gibraltar International Dance Festival. Out of the 63 soloists that participated at the festival, seven were selected by international adjudicator, Craig Bartley to perform in the grand final. Bursary finalists included dancers from Gibraltar, England and Spain as follows:

The festival, organised by M.O. Productions, was held from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th March 2015 at the John Mackintosh Hall Theatre and saw 149 dancers from Gibraltar, England and Spain taking part.
Prize winners are:
M.O. Productions Bursary Award Carlos Romero from Innovations Dance Company
M.O. Productions Best Male Dancer Alvaro Britto Moreno from Innovations Dance Company
M.O. Productions Best Female Dancer Sarah Anne MacLaren from the Gibraltar Academy of Dance
M.O. Productions Sussex Award Sarah Anne MacLaren from the Gibraltar Academy of Dance
M.O. Productions Best Choreographer Jade Federico for her Adult Group called ‘I AM MINE’
M.O. Productions also offered two scholarships at a vocational school in UK, to who in the adjudicator’s opinion had not won soloist medals but had lots of potential in the future. The scholarships were awarded to Quino Petit Pacheco and Julia Costa.
Director of M.O. Productions Seamus Byrne said:
‘We are happy with the support that we have received from the local dance schools as well as from the international performers who participated at our event. We are very pleased with the high standard and quality of dance that has been maintained throughout the three days of the festival. We are delighted to have been able to offer a platform and educational experience for our young people and we aim to continue organising this wonderful event for many more years to come.’
