Apr 14 - La Sala Restaurant To Open On Sunborn

The famous leisure brand La Sala is set to open a restaurant on the Sunborn floating hotel in Ocean Village next month. A press prelaunch event yesterday evening presented the latest addition to the group’s portfolio of venues.

Based on the hugely successful La Sala Puerto Banus, the restaurant aims to provide quality food and entertainment seven days a week. The Banus branch is a hotspot for celebrities and Premier League footballers and has become known as the “hottest table in town.”

Steve Hampson, La Sala’s Chief Operating Officer, said the group had chosen Gibraltar for its next venture because of the warm welcome it had received.

“The guys at Sunborn made us buy into the resort concept.”

He said the 160-seat restaurant would be open towards the end of May and would provide “excellent food and a lively atmosphere”.

It is expected, he said, that the new restaurant would employ between 50-70 people.

Hans Niemi, the CEO of Sunborn Hotels, said that the new venture would work “hand in hand” with his brand. “We needed and always planned for a high quality restaurant,” he said.

Jeff Stelling, a presenter for Sky Sports and a La Sala shareholder, said this would be a place for people to come “for good food, good wine and to rub shoulders with top football players.”
