May 12 – Three Days Left To Enjoy James Foot Watercolour Exhibition

There are just three more days left before James Foot’s exhibition of Gibraltar-themed watercolours closes at the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates. The artist’s work captures colonial buildings, balconies, shutters and the long evening shadows as the fall across the Rock’s historical sites. We caught up with James earlier today…

“Gibraltar is very interesting architecturally – there’s a real mix, ” he says.

James, who now lives in Greece, has been visiting the Rock at regular intervals for 25 years and says he feels drawn to Gibraltar’s tolerance and diversity.

“It makes it a very interesting place to paint,” he explains.

Most of the works have been produced specifically for this exhibition and portray local landmarks like the Casino Calpe building and the Convent. Unusually for the artist, there’s also a stunning aerial view of the Rock based on a photo James took while flying out of Gibraltar.

James will be at the Gallery until Friday from 11am to 7pm.
