Jun 22 - Drama Group Sets Off For UK Festival

Bayside and Westside Drama Group will once again be travelling to the United Kingdom to take part in the Duncan Rand Youth One-Act Play Festival at Medway Little Theatre in Rochester, Kent. This is a major festival in the region and attracts participation from a large area across south-east England.

The group will be entering two original plays by director Julian Felice, namely To Touch the Face of God and Utrecht, which came second at the last Gibraltar Drama Festival. The group will be performing on Friday 10th July and will be hoping to, at least, emulate their success in previous participations, where they have come second twice and third once, while also winning five acting and technical awards.

This is the third time that the group takes part in the Festival, having done so in 2012 with Mary Jane and in 2013 with Flavius and Going Underground. It is also their seventh collaboration with Medway Little Theatre, whose youth company has now visited Gibraltar on three occasions. In addition to performing, the group will be taking part in a joint workshop with the host theatre’s youth company, while also visiting some of Rochester’s main sights.

The group departs on Thursday 9th July, returning the following Sunday, and would like to acknowledge and thank the Ministry of Culture’s financial support of the venture.
