  • Government Disappointed at EU Parliament Delisting Vote

The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

The Anchorage

Nestled in a quiet corner of Gibraltar’s South District is the Anchorage – a modern, strikingly designed development featuring apartments and luxury penthouses. The development is called the Anchorage because of its proximity to the spot where Admiral Nelson's body was brought ashore from HMS Victory – preserved in a rum barrel, according to the legend. Also nearby are the 100-tonne supergun, made in 1870, and the Parson’s Lodge fortifications making this area a hotspot for local history.

Although the Anchorage is located a 30-minute walk from town, a regular and reliable free bus service for local residents provides a quick link for shoppers and those commuting to work.

The properties are spacious and bright with open plan kitchens and with many offering impressive views towards the Rock or across the Strait towards Morocco. Balconies are generous and with most properties facing south, you are guaranteed to be able to soak up the rays until late in the evening. All properties come with air conditioning as standard making the summer heat more bearable.

There is a large underground parking area, a health spa, gymnasium and children's playground – amenities which make the Anchorage a development ideally suited to young families hoping to move up the property ladder.

Just to get an idea of the standard, let’s have a closer look at the flagship property: the Penthouse.

The Penthouse enjoys a 166sqm internal living space with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The open plan modern fully fitted kitchen is kitted out with top of the range appliances.  For relaxation and family time there is a very large lounge which is fully furnished and served by an optional integrated B&O AV system. The real treat, however, is the dining room which has panoramic views of the Strait of Gibraltar and beyond which opens onto a 50sqm terrace with hot tub.  The master bedroom has an en suite shower room and built-in wardrobe. The second bedroom is also joined by an en suite shower room and small terrace.  Finishing off the luxurious atmosphere is the wooden flooring throughout this unique high-end property.

The Anchorage offers luxury and great views in a quieter area away from the busy town. Its various properties offer excellent investment opportunities for buyers and landlords in this high-profile and much sought after area.
