Oct 19 - GSD: Who Is Paying For The Coach/Car Park?
The GSD says it notes the GSLP/Liberal “boast” that they have spent £ 17.5 million building a Coach/Car Park. However, the party says that there is no trace of this sum in the Government estimates of capital expenditure for the Improvement and Development Fund in 2013/14 or 2014/2015 or indeed 2015/16.
GSD Candidate Roy Clinton said:
"The purpose of the annual budget session is to approve annual expenditure and capital projects. I can find no evidence that the Coach/Car Park was approved by Parliament. Indeed there is no trace of it at all though of course we can see the physical evidence. The company Midtown Coach and Car Parks Limited that is selling the car parking spaces at £ 20,000 each, and its parent holding company do not have any obvious connection to the Government which makes the GSLP/Liberal boast rather strange.”
“Again what is the purpose of Parliament but to approve such projects where such large amounts of public funds are used, unless of course the funding is coming indirectly from the Savings Bank via Credit Finance Company or some other hidden Government Controlled entity? Without transparency we are all kept in the dark as to how our money is being spent! Would the Minister for Public Finance care to explain how the Coach/Car Park has been financed and who approved such a large capital project?”
