Nov 18 - GSLP-Libs Say Laguna Estate Playground Will Be “Upgraded And Enhanced”

The GSLP-Libs have said that the GSD have issued a flyer to tenants of Laguna Estate telling them that children in the estate would lose the use of the Adventure Playground as a result of the re-siting of St Martin’s School.

The Alliance rejects this, saying that this is simply “untrue.”

In fact, says the party, the Adventure Playground is provided in its plans and a new five-a-side and basketball facility will be made available, as well as additional children’s attractions and grass areas modelled on Commonwealth Park.

The party says that the facilities of the Youth Club “remain as they are and are enhanced further.”

A statement from the party elaborated on this policy: “Some of the areas of the New St Martin’s and the New Notre Dame will also provide new additional facilities for community use which will be especially relevant to the tenants of Laguna Estate.

“For that reason, the allegations made by the GSD are once again allegations based on untrue conjecture and assumption.  The GSD is once again seeking to mislead people into voting for them because they have no policies of their own, as is now patently clear from their manifesto.”

Leader of the GSLP/ Liberal Alliance Fabian Picardo said:  “We are going to majorly enhance the facilities for children in the area of Laguna with new and upgraded sports and playing areas and real grass in the style of Commonwealth Park.  The GSD is lying about the loss of the facilities at the Adventure Playground, just as they are lying about debt and lying about LNG.  In fact, their whole campaign is based around a tissue of lies which people are seeing through.  What is also more than obvious now is that the GSD have no detailed policies.  In fact, their manifesto is perhaps best described as the shortest political suicide note in history.  It lacks substance.  It lacks policies.  It even lacks any mention of the word “gaming” or any reference to that sector which employs almost 3,000 people!  I am not surprised therefore that Mr Feetham has been left trying to persuade children that we are going to take away their playground to try to win some precious votes.  He is lying about that too!”
