Mar 09 – La Linea Mayor Meets With Chief Minister
The Mayor of La Linea Juan Franco paid a visit to the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia at No 6 Convent Place earlier today.
They discussed a number of matters concerning residents on both sides of the frontier, with the La Linea Cien por Cien Mayor stating that he looks forward to welcoming Mr Picardo at his offices in La Linea soon after the Easter holidays.
This is the second official meeting that’s been held since Sr Franco was elected in May last year, and Mr Picardo added that they are preparing to make an announcement on working together on a project in the upcoming months.
When asked about the EU referendum and the question of whether Gibraltar would leave the EU as a result, Sr Franco said it was something that was of concern to him, stating: “When Gibraltar sneezes, La Linea catches a cold, but if Gibraltar were to catch pneumonia, it would complicate things for us.”
The meeting took place a day after the Chief Minister met with the PSOE representative for Cadiz Salvador de la Encina and PSOE advisor for La Linea Miguel Tornay.
