Jul 18 - CM At Preparatory Meeting Of Joint Ministerial Council

The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo left Gibraltar over the weekend in order to participate in a preparatory meeting for the Joint Ministerial Council of the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories Governments.

These working sessions between the Overseas Territories Governments are the prelude to the meeting with the United Kingdom which normally takes place every year in December. It will be recalled that Gibraltar hosted such a session coinciding with National Day in 2013.

The current meeting is hosted by the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Chief Minister will remain in constant contact with the Deputy Chief Minister in relation to all post-Brexit matters and all other matters of urgent Government business in his absence from the Rock.

Mr Picardo will return to Gibraltar at the end of the week and in his absence the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia will act as Chief Minister.
