Sep 15 - Gibraltar Engages With UK "Brexit" Departments

The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia have met with the U.K. Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union David Davis MP. Mr Davis was accompanied by the Minister of State at the Department for "Brexit" Robin Walker MP.

Mr Davis served in the past as Minister of State for Europe with responsibility for Gibraltar. Mr Walker replied for the UK Government during the recent Parliamentary debate about Gibraltar.

The Chief Minister outlined the issues that were of importance to Gibraltar in our relationship with the European Union and briefed the Secretary of State on the challenges and the opportunities that lay ahead. Mr Davis expressed his general support for Gibraltar.

The discussions are set to continue in detail given the commitment that has been given that Gibraltar will be dealt with at the same level as the Devolved Administrations in the UK.

Yesterday afternoon, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Attorney General attended a conference dealing with "Brexit" issues.
