Jan 17 - Chief Minister And Chiclana Mayor Explore Commercial And Tourism Opportunities
The Mayor of Chiclana, Señor Don Jose Maria Roman, today made an official visit to the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo.
Mr Roman, a member of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) said he had managed to explore ways to co-operate with the Government of Gibraltar while seeking points of common interest which could yield mutual benefits.
After the meeting, the Chief Minister and Mr Roman spoke to members of the media.
Mr Picardo highlighted that there were opportunities for co-operation in areas like tourism and the ship repair industry. He said that he had spoken to Mr Roman about the joint promotion of the tourist products of Gibraltar and Chiclana.
Mr Picardo added that it was “essential” that Gibraltar shape and cultivate such relationships during the Brexit process.
The visit will be followed by another meeting in the next few weeks between industry representatives and a future visit by Mr Picardo to Chiclana.
