Feb 09 - GGCA Says It Has “Overwhelming Majority” At Master Service

Following comments made by the Unite the Union to the media, the GGCA says it would like to strongly reiterate that it retains more than 70% of the Master Service (Gib) Ltd (“Master Service”) membership, as opposed to the 11% represented by Unite the Union.

A statement continued: “We are disappointed that the Chief Minister saw fit to meet and discuss Master Service matters with Unite before broaching the matters at hand with the GGCA, the union with an overwhelming majority and clear negotiating rights. It casts in doubt if the Government of Gibraltar has the best interests of the vast majority of the Master Service workforce at heart.

“The GGCA Committee and Master Service Section Reps have requested a meeting with the Chief Minister, with the aim of communicating the concerns of the majority - we hope for a positive response and a meeting at his earliest convenience. We have also convened a meeting with our entire Master Service membership on Friday, where we shall agree the next steps to be taken to best protect the interests of the Master Service workforce.”
