Sep 20 - First Redibikes Review Results In A Drop In Rental Fee On Work Days

The Ministry for Infrastructure and Planning is pleased to announce that as of today, the Redibikes rental fee is reduced from £2 per day to £1 per day.

A spokesman for Number Six said: "Since its inception Redibikes has seen steadily increasing usage and 376 accounts have been opened to date. The three most popular renting stations are Market Place, Southport Gates and North Mole bicycle stations. The Redibikes scheme has been used primarily as intended - that is, by commuters - but visitors have also taken advantage of it.

"An increase in the rental period during weekends and Public Holidays will also be introduced, allowing users to rent a Redibike for an unlimited number of 30 minute periods on these days. This is intended to encourage recreational use of the scheme.

"These new measures will be monitored closely in order to ensure that maximum usage may be encouraged while at the same time guaranteeing bicycle availability to users at all times."

The Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Paul Balban, said: “I am immensely gratified to see the take-up of the Redibikes scheme so far and welcome the associated environmental and health benefits that this will undoubtedly bring us, both in the short and long term. It is essential that we constantly audit and monitor this scheme objectively, as set out within the STTPP recommendations, to ensure that its aims and objectives are met as best as possible.”
