Apr 22 - Government Announces Cabinet Reshuffle
The Government has announced a Cabinet reshuffle that will see Acting Housing Minister Paul Balban take over the role as Minister for Housing, with responsibility for the Housing Works Agency.
Minister Balban continues to retain his existing responsibilities, except Health and Safety, which has been passéd on to Minister Bossano.
The changes have come about following the sad death of Minister for Housing and the Elderly, Charles Bruzon.
Minister Sacramento will now add responsibility for the Elderly to the list of her existing commitments.
In a letter to His Excellency the Governor, writing pursuant to Sections 45 and 46 of the Constitution, the Chief Minister has advised His Excellency to change the "Particular Directions" issued under the Constitution assigning ministerial responsibilities.
Mr. Picardo commented in the letter that he and his ministerial colleagues are greatly saddened to have had to write in these terms and that today's meeting of Cabinet has been marked by the great void of friendship and wisdom represented by the absence of the Hon Charles Bruzon.
