Jul 25 - Guardia Civil Returns To Western Beach Area
The Guardia Civil vessel Rio Tormes patrolled the area next to the runway off Western Beach this morning. This comes following an incident yesterday in which a Government contracted tug boat was stopped by the Guardia Civil from dropping concrete blocks to form an artificial reef.
Spanish fishermen had complained that the activity was disrupting their fishing and was creating a barrier that would prevent them from raking the seabed. It is likely that the Guardia Civil returned to the area this morning to ensure that the tug would not be able to operate. An eyewitness later saw a Royal Navy vessel approaching.
