Aug 19 - Gibraltar and Catalonia 'Suffer Oppression From the Same Corner'
Gibraltar’s current situation has been highlighted in a blog that aims to spread awareness of the situation in Catalonia, and their pursuit to freedom from the rest of Spain. The blog touches upon Gibraltar MEP and Chief Conservative Whip in Strasbourg Julie Girling’s summary of Gibraltar’s harassment by Spain, urging the UK Government to take action.
Author of the blog, Alex Calvo draws upon the similarities between Catalonia and Gibraltar, claiming that they suffer oppression from the same corner. The link between the two draws back to 1704 when the Catalans landed in Gibraltar as part of the Allied contingent.
