Nov 14 - Courtesy Call

During his week-long visit to Gibraltar, His Excellency Cav. Gr. Cr. Johannes Niederhauser, Grand Chancellor of the Order of Sts. Maurice and Lazarus, of the Royal House of Savoy, paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, at No 6 Convent Place this morning. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr Tony Lombard.

There are, of course, close connections between Gibraltar and Italy but this is His Excellency’s first visit to the Rock and it is appropriate that this visit should take place in the 300th anniversary on the Treaty of Utrecht in which Savoy featured so prominently.

During His Excellency’s visit he has been able to familiarise himself with Gibraltar’s jurisdiction and also to make early plans for a possible visit to Gibraltar next Spring by His Royal Highness Prince Victor Emmanuel, Duke of Savoy, Prince of Naples, Head of the Royal House of Savoy.

By profession, His Excellency is a major figure in Hedge Fund sector of Switzerland’s financial services industry.
