Nov 28 - Government: All Spanish Politicians Always Welcome In Gibraltar
The Government notes the statements made by the municipal authorities in Algeciras saying that the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, is not welcome in Algeciras.
Conversely, the Government wishes to make it clear that all municipal, regional and national Spanish politicians, from all elected parties, will always be welcome by the authorities in Gibraltar when visiting in either their personal or political capacities.
The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, said: "Whether or not we agree with each other on issues, we should never fall into the trap of turning our backs on each other and not talking to each other in all suitable fora to try to find ways forward in the mutual interests of citizens on both sides of the frontier. Welcoming each other to our respective cities should be part of that approach, even when we disagree, as a first step to reaching common understanding."
