Nov 28 - Chief Minister Unable to Deliver Cadiz University Lecture for Security Reasons
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo was this evening unable to deliver a lecture at the University of Cadiz as a result of serious public order issues which led to him being advised that his personal security could not be guaranteed by law enforcement.
Commenting on the issue, Mr Picardo said, 'I am truly saddened that it has not been possible for me to speak to this group of students who were interested in hearing the Gibraltar Government's view of the legal status of Gibraltar. The visible level of hate and violence I witnessed was frankly remarkable. I sincerely believe that we should be talking to resolve the political issues between us. Violence and intolerance will not achieve anything. It will certainly not change my pro-dialogue views.'
