Dec 19 - Girling Insists Conservatives Voted In Support of Gibraltarians
Conservative MEP Julie Girling has expressed her disappointment on hearing of lies perpetuated by her Lib Dem colleague Sir Graham Watson MEP.
Commenting on the matter, Mrs Girling said, ‘Earlier this week, Sir Graham released a press release which implied Conservatives voted against extending European air passenger rights to people flying in and out of Gibraltar.
It is in fact the case that Conservatives colleagues voted IN SUPPORT of Gibraltar. It is disappointing and frankly unacceptable politicking from Sir Graham to wrongfully suggest that Conservatives are not representing their constituents in Gibraltar – where our Conservative colleagues sit on a committee rather than the South West Conservative team; we make sure they too have the interests of Gibraltar at heart when voting on issues which affect The Rock.
It's a shame that Sir Graham gives priority to party politics rather than working together with all Gibraltar's MEPs.’
