Jan 22 - GSD Announces Executive Committee Candidates Ahead Of Tomorrow’s AGM

The GSD will be holding its Annual General Meeting on tomorrow at 7pm at the John Mackintosh Hall.  Following on from the Party’s new Constitution, which was passed by its Executive Committee a few months ago, this will be the first time that the GSD’s membership will be voting in half of the Party’s Executive Committee.

Voting by secret ballot will start at 6pm and close at 7pm, advance information with personal details of the twelve candidates are available at the Party’s headquarters who are:

Ainslie Andrews, William Anidjar-Serfaty, Michael Bain, Joseph Bula, John Calderon, Richard de la Rosa, Sally-Ann Felice, John Charles Guy, Trevor Hammond, Kim Karnani, Darren Olivero, Arturo Sheriff.

Commenting on the matter, Isobel Ellul-Hammond said: “The process the GSD is currently undergoing, culminating in the election by its membership of Executive members, shows the Party progressing and not being held back by inertia, or stuck in the past. The new leadership of this Party from Daniel Feetham has conducted a transformation which has not only changed the GSD’s structure, but will change the expectations of the electorate as to how a modern political party in Gibraltar should operate.

“In just two years we have transitioned our leadership, holding a contested leadership election, something our opponents know little of. We have fought a By-Election and maintained our core vote; we have provided effective Opposition and exposed Government failure on issues critical to Gibraltar.  A new Constitution for the party has been enacted and now we elect our Executive.  We are proud to conduct all this activity in the public gaze, letting our detractors take pot shots at us because they know that the GSD is the only party capable of challenging and defeating them at the next election.”
