Feb 21 - GSD Pushes Government on Legal Aid Reform Bill
The Opposition notes the Government's acknowledgement that it has been sitting on a bill for legal aid reform for the last two years and the Minister's acknowledgement in Parliament of the work of the GSD in preparing draft legislation and conducting consultation with the legal profession before December 2011.
The Party insists that it is increasingly alarming that the Government has ‘done very little in this area other than to eliminate limits on legal aid in relation to exceptionally difficult cases involving fraud which currently affects one case.’
