Mar 07 - Government Freezes Ukrainian Assets
In line with all other European Union jurisdictions, the Government of Gibraltar has frozen any assets which may be located in Gibraltar of ousted Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich, former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and 16 other former senior Ukrainian officials suspected of misusing state funds and violating human rights.
Today, the Chief Minister signed the Ukraine Sanctions Order 2014 which comes into operation immediately
Mr. Picardo said that ‘any funds and economic resources in or controlled from Gibraltar and belonging to, owned, held or controlled’ by the people listed in the Order are now frozen.
The restrictive measures have come about in light of the current situation in Ukraine.
