Apr 03 - Cross Frontier Group Meet All Party Parliamentary Gibraltar Group
The Cross Frontier Group met yesterday with the All Party Parliamentary Gibraltar Group in the House of Commons. The meeting was very well attended.
Mr Jim Dobbin MP, the Chairman of the APPGG welcomed everybody and invited the Group to update them on their activities.
The Group took the opportunity of explaining to the APPGG the situation at the Gibraltar/Spain frontier which has forced people to queue for up to seven hours. The Spanish Authorities also make people who want to cross into Gibraltar wait for several hours to enter the British Territory. The Cross Frontier Group explained to the APPGG the inconvenience being experienced by thousands of EU citizens, many of them who cross the border on a daily basis to reach their work.
The Group emphasised to the Chairman that this is the first time it has had the privilege of addressing the UK Parliament which includes business and union associations colleagues from both sides of the border.
The Cross Frontier Group is appreciative of the efforts made by Unite Union and the Gibraltar Government London office in organising this visit to Parliament.
Jim Dobbin MP reassured the Cross Frontier Group of the total support of the APPGG and assured the Group that they will continue with the strong lobbying of the Government in London to ensure that no stone is left unturned to safe guard the people of Gibraltar and the campo area.
