May 09 - Breaking: Chief Minister Announces Govt to Reconsider Gibraltar's Schengen and Common Customs Union Status
Speaking at a private reception marking Europe Day this afternoon the Chief Minister officially announced that the Government of Gibraltar would shortly be commencing a formal consultation with stakeholders in this nation, on Gibraltar’s Schengen status and membership of the Common Customs Union of the European Union.
He insisted that this should not be a matter for partisan exchange and Gibraltar should get the right answers for our community for the next 50 years of membership of the EU.
The announcement was made in front of Senior Cabinet Minister for Her Majesty’s Government, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander.
