Nay 13 - GSD Calls for Return of Apprenticeships

gsdResponding to the Government’s most recent statement on the GSD’s assessment of the ‘Failed Job Strategy’. The Party insisted that in Mr. Bossano’s ‘frenzied and personal attack against anyone who dares to criticise his policies’ he missed the point. The Opposition adds that there were publicly available apprenticeships offered by the previous GSD Government, despite Minister Bossano’s claim that there were none.

The Party, along with Unite the Union are calling for a return of the apprenticeships schemes, ‘as well as a public/private partnership which is what the GSD in government successfully provided.’

The party goes on to say, ‘the reason for this is because there simply is no training. Why has the Minister for Employment not defended his strategy from this reasonable criticism instead of going on a personal tirade against one of the members of the young members’ committee of Unite as well as the former GSD Minister for Employment Mr Montiel (a favourite pastime of his) and now Mr Bossino? Is the Minister also to lash out at Mr Coyne for calling for a highly skilled, highly qualified, professional workforce, which is clearly not being provided by his failed scheme?’

Opposition spokesperson for Employment, Damon Bossino said that Mr. Bossano’s recent outburst ‘will mean nothing to those who are calling for proper training for real jobs. Describing the FJS as a ‘highly successful training programme’ is nothing short of laughable.’
