May 22 - Steadily Growing Turnout For Euro Elections – Just Under 10% Have Already Voted

The hourly turnout rates for today’s European Parliament elections are, after a slow start, closely following those recorded when Gibraltar last went to the polls in 2009.

By 12:00 midday, 2,216 people had cast their vote compared to 2,108 five years ago. This figure represents just under 10% of the electorate. For the first time, and as part of trial project, the hourly turnout statistics are being posted online as soon as they are available. These can be accessed on the www.parliament.gi website which will also carry the results when they are announced on Sunday night.
