Jun 03 - Gibraltar Finance Centre Delegation Hosts Gibraltar Day in Bermuda
Financial Services Minister Albert Isola is this week attending the Bermuda Captive Insurance Conference along with a delegation from the Finance Centre Director including Director James Tipping and the senior executive insurance from Gibraltar Finance, Mike Ashton. Gibraltar's insurance regulator, Michael Oliver is also in attendance. This is the first time that Gibraltar will be represented at what is Bermuda's most important gathering of insurance companies and professionals and the visit has been coordinated with the Government of Bermuda and conference officials.
During their time in Bermuda the delegation will explore insurance Linked Securities with Bermudian industry professionals that specialize in this sector in an effort to make Gibraltar ‘the European hub for this growing area of business.’
Minister Isola will also host a series of meetings with banks and insurance companies including Bermudian regulator ‘Inter Alia’. Contact will also be held with the Bermudian Government, with a Gibraltar Day lunch organized for Government members, senior officials and a large number of private sector participants from the island.
The event, similar to the annual Financial services lunch hosted in London each year, will serve to put Gibraltar on the map as an international hub for financial services, and a gateway to business in Europe.
