Jul 15 - GSD Calls on Picardo to Address Gibraltar’s Energy Needs

gsdCommenting on this morning’s power cut, which the Government has insisted stems from a fault in stability in the network, the GSD Opposition today said that the outages ‘are a serious problem not just for the quality of life of all residents in Gibraltar but also for the business community’.

The party recalls the Chief Minister’s assurance earlier in the year that ‘shortages would never happen again’. `the party criticizes the Government for not having even started ‘the land reclamation on which the much vaunted dual fire power station will be built.’

A party statement goes on to note, ‘the tender for the Natural Liquid Gas installation in the detached mole, which will supply the station, remains to be allocated’.

They urge the Chief minister to ‘get his priorities right, addressing Gibraltar’s energy needs and spend less time and money on parks and vanity projects.’
