Following the UK Foreign Office’s summoning of the Spanish Ambassador Federico Trillo yesterday evening, the Spanish Foreign Ministry summoned Senor Trillo’s British counterpart.

Spain dubbed the move ‘inappropriate’, insisting that summoning ambassadors is a very serious step that should only be reserved for the gravest situation.

International news outlet Reuters reported that the Spanish Ministry went on to say that the incident was unacceptable interference by the UK ‘in routine activities of the Spanish army in Spanish waters.’
