Oct 13 - GSD: New Public Services Magazine “Reads Like A GSLP Electioneering Manifesto”

The Opposition GSD says that it would have wanted to commend Government on the new Public Services Magazine adding that it always applauds information share on where all Gibraltar’s money is being spent and the upcoming projects that are to be commenced.

The GSD says, however, that it was “somewhat surprised to see the first issue, which read far more like a GSLP electioneering manifesto than a Government one.” The Opposition would like to remind the GSLP and any party in Government that such publications paid for from taxes and distributed to the politically independent civil service “must refrain from such party political gestures and deal with facts.”

A statement from the party concluded: “Should the GSLP / Liberals prefer this to continue to be a party political magazine rather than one for our whole community we strongly request that they pay for the magazine from their own funds rather than our tax payer funds and distribute solely to their supporters rather than via our independent civil service,

“We hope that the Government chose the informational and non-partisan course in future.”
