Oct 28 - Gibraltar to Sign Multilateral Information Exchange Agreement at OECD Global Forum

oecd forum Financial Services Minister Albert Isola will this week attend the OECD Global Forum in Berlin, accompanied by Finance Centre Director, James Tipping. The forum works towards matters surrounding the exchange of tax information and transparency and their global progression. 123 countries and territories will be present at the event, which is hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Finance.

At the forefront of the world’s financial services market, Gibraltar has been working towards developing tax exchange agreements will many of the globe’s jurisdictions. At the event Gibraltar’s Peer II report and ranking is set to be made public following a recent visit to Gibraltar by the OECD Peer Review Group.

The Chief Minister will attend the forum tomorrow to be present for the signing of the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information, an agreement known as Global FATCA. A large number of countries are expected to sign the MCAA. This move will boast another step for Gibraltar as a leading regulator in the industry.

During the Chief Minister’s absence form Gibraltar, Equalities Minister Samantha Sacramento will act as Chief Minister.
