Oct 29 – GSD Concerned About New Buses

The GSD says it notes “with grave concern” complaints made by citizens with regards to the new buses.

It appears, says the party, that access is difficult and inconvenient, especially for those with mobility issues, making it “tough and uninviting” to take a bus.

It will be recalled, says the Opposition, that when the GSD instituted the blue buses, the GSLP complained that they were ‘too big’ and not fit for purpose. Despite this, argues the GSD, the blue buses “have served this community well and catered for the needs of all our citizens.”

A statement from the party concluded: “We would hate to see our hard work in instilling the culture of taking more buses and less cars go to waste simply because of the usual lack of planning by this administration, where so often we are seeing policies and goodies that look great on the outside, but then leave a great deal to be desired when you scratch the surface.

“We call on government to make good the drawbacks associated with the new buses, and reassure our citizens that they will solve what is a significant problem for our elderly and our disabled.”
