Nov 03 - GSD Calls for Govt Clarity Over Europa Stadium Company
The Opposition has brought to light the details of a Government company dubbed Europa Stadium Limited, with directors including the Chief Secretary and former Financial Secretary Dilip Dayaram Tranthdas. The party has expressed concern that the Government has ‘clearly already been making plans for the construction of the Europa Stadium even though the DPC has not even made a decision on the matter.’
The party also scrutinized the idea that the Government may ‘pouring huge amounts of money into this venture either by way of loans or otherwise.’
Skeptical of UEFA’s financial involvement the GSD insisted today that they remain concerned that ‘neither savers’ money (through Credit Finance) or tax payers’ money should be invested in a project of this nature without a clear and sustainable strategy for its repayment.’
They call on the government to make a full and frank statement on the matter.
