Nov 05 - GSD Calls for 'Less Arrogance, More Transparency' on Fishing and Europa Stadium Ltd
The GSD has today once again highlighted the issues the party has raised regarding fishing with nets in BGTW and Europa Stadium Limited, a company the Government insists was set up ‘in case’ the land at Europa Point is transferred to the GFA.
On fishing the party laments the Chief Minister’s refusal ‘to answer a simple question that [they] have been asking for months now, namely whether under those proposed Regulations Spanish Fishermen will be required to come to Gibraltar to apply for a license here or whether the leaders of the Cofradias will simply be able to provide Gibraltar authorities with a list of vessels which will then be deemed to be licensed?’
With regards to Europa Stadium Limited, the Opposition claims that Mr. Picardo’s response ‘ignores the fact that the issued share capital of this company clearly makes provision for the investment of £41m in it.’ The party goes on to suggest that the company ‘has all the hallmarks of another Credit Finance Co Limited’.
The GSD insists that in the Government’s responses, ‘Mr Picardo is rapidly proving to have very little respect for the intelligence of people in this community’.
